Hm, so a sonnet format, but the stress pattern is not one I've seen before. Is it an alternate style? I usually see iambs, but here you have two amphibrachs followed by three iambs. (Plus the first line is a syllable short.) I assume the "once of twice" was supposed to be "once or twice."
As to the sentiment, I mostly agree. People go nuts for pumpkin spice this time of year to the point it becomes ubiquitous (an entire side of one aisle is devoted to it at Aldi right now). And yet it doesn't taste at all of pumpkin. That said, I understand it as a seasoning blend that is often applied to pumpkin, not including it, similar to a "blackened fish seasoning" not tasting of fish.

A tasteful use of enjambment. Mine always feel so out of place, so I'm glad to have a model of how it can help to convey a poem's thematic intent (maybe a touch of festive dissociation?).

Thanks, folks:
I have a plastic containter in my freezer right now with the baked remains of last year's Hallowe'en pumpkin in it. I make my own pies and soup every year and always enjoy making something that tastes of pumpkin...
The form here, as Pasco said, is a sonnet with the first two iambs replaed with amphibrachs. This gives you a 12 syllable line that breaks the rhythm into two feet of three beats followed by three feet of two beats. I think of it as a sort of thing Dave Brubeck was doing with music back in the 1950s and '60s... :)
With the equinox today, I'm gonna correct that first line and send the thing around to see if any place is interested in publishing it.
