Hearth's Warming Care Package

This is a special event that looks for a story that can be illustrated, printed, and sent to Kiki—a seven-year-old diagnosed with brain cancer—alongside a package full of holiday cards, toys, and wishes for her speedy recovery.

Prizes

  • 1ˢᵗ place will have their story illustrated, printed and sent to Kiki, and will receive a 14" commissioned pony of choice (courtesy of createdwithlove).
  • 2ⁿᵈ and 3ʳᵈ place will receive commissioned cover art of choice, as well as a shirt of choice from welovefine.
  • All entries will be included in a bound anthology that will be sent with the care package to Kiki and her family.

Rules

Submissions that fail to follow these rules will be removed. Repeat or serious offences may result in offenders being banned from entering future events.

For rules that have a degree of ambiguity—in particular, genre and prompt rules—enforcement at the fringes is done by voters.

Contest

  1. Submitted works—
    1. may not be submitted elsewhere until the event's conclusion;
    2. must be based on the prompt to a reasonable and discernible degree;
  2. Submitted written works—
    1. must be written primarily in English;
    2. must be 1000–15000 words long;
    3. must not be mostly nonsense;
  3. Participants—
    1. may not start creating their work(s) until the prompt has been selected;
    2. may not disclose their authorship explicitly or implicitly until this website has done so;
    3. may not submit works explicitly connected to another work of theirs; and
    4. may not attempt to doctor the votes in any way that may give them or another person an unfair advantage.

Custom

  1. Generic (2)(b) is vetoed. There is no prompt for this event.
  2. All submitted works must relate to the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic universe.
  3. Entries must be suitable for young audiences, meaning—
    1. no extensive use of complex language; and
    2. entries should have a positive, uplifting message.
  4. Keep in mind—
    1. the context of the event; and
    2. that the winning entry will be illustrated.
